FAQ

OK, here are the Frequently Asked Questions - hopefully they will help if you get a bit stuck.

I'm having problems installing NotifyTunes.
There may be many reasons why the installation did not succeed on your PC. It is worth checking that you have all the latest updates and Service Packs installed. Check that you have 'Administrator' permissions on the PC you are attempting to use, if it is part of a Corporate network, check with your I.T. department.

I get an error message when updating iTunes.
It is recommended that NotifyTunes is shutdown prior to performing an upgrade of iTunes. If NotifyTunes is running during the installation process, an exception message may be displayed indicating a problem has occurred with NotifyTunes. Click the Close button to shutdown NotifyTunes, this should not affect the iTunes installation process. Once complete you should be safe to manually restart NotifyTunes.
I've installed NotifyTunes, now what?
During installation a shortcut is placed in the Start > All Programs > Startup group, this ensures NotifyTunes is started when then PC is started. However, if you wish to start NotifyTunes without restarting the PC, click on the NotifyTunes icon in Start > All Programs > NotifyTunes group. This occurs when NotifyTunes has determined that a newer version is available from this website. To confirm this place the mouse over the System Tray icon. The tooltip should indicate that an update is available and its version number.

The shortcut I have assigned doesn't work.
If this occurs, check that the shortcut isn't already assigned to another application, is reserved by Windows or is an invalid combination (use the 'Test' button when editting the shortcut combination). Also, check that the command you are trying to execute is currently valid - for example: Issuing the Next Track command when iTunes is not currently playing will result in no action.
